Creative thinker, Jonique from The Bahamas pushed her way to become a success story. Her passion for braiding at a young age has followed her throughout life. But after her son was born, her passion experienced a temporary setback. Her son, Tatum Holness was born with two birth defects. Firstly, his esophagus wasn't connected to his stomach(Tracheal Esophageal fistula) and secondly, a skull suture close prematurely (craniosynostosis). After his skull surgery, with no insurance, it left her in financial debt. Being her first, As a mother, she realized that she's no longer living for herself anymore, but for her child.  she has brainstormed on ideas and ways to make extra funds to help with the medical bill. In 2017, she created her own brand @braidglam. Being determined, she has spent long weeks, sleepless nights trying to create the most natural-looking crochet. After brainstorming, she produced her first product, handcrafted crochet Ombre Coilytwist. which she created to have dark roots that allow persons to wear colours without bleaching or colouring their natural hair. Each installation has over 230 strands to prepare. she's also custom-made Braided caps and own edge control products. As a young mother & entrepreneur, she wants to encourage others in similar situations to not look like the struggle' but keep pushing and keep the faith. she thanks God for her son, he motivated and molded her into the woman she is today.
